A diminishes, virtual and erect image of our face can be seen by diverging lens and mirror. The given ray diagram proves this point. Thus, a convex mirror and a concave lens, which are both diverging in nature can perform the task.

A diminished, real and inverted image is formed between principal focus, F 2 and centre of curvature, C 2 at the opposite side when an object is placed beyond C 1 of a convex lens.
