Question:-

  • Solve the equation and verify your answer as step by step.

  • \longmapsto \: \bf\dfrac{x + 2}{6} + \dfrac{x - 3}{3} = x

Solution:-

Here ,

\tt\implies \: \dfrac { x + 2 } { 6 } + \dfrac { x - 3 } { 3 } = x . . . . . ( 1 )

\tt\implies \: \dfrac { x + 2 + 2( x - 3 ) } { 6 } = x

\tt\implies \: \dfrac { x + 2 + 2x - 6 } { 6 } = x

\tt\implies \: \dfrac { 3x - 4 } { 6 } = x

\tt\implies \: 3x - 4 = 6x

\tt\implies \: 6x - 3x = - 4

\tt\implies \: 3x = - 4

\tt\implies \: x = \dfrac { - 4 } { 3 }

Verification:-

\tt\implies \: \dfrac { x + 2 } { 6 } + \dfrac { x - 3 } { 3 } = x

Substitute "x" in the equation ( 1 ):-

\tt\implies \: \dfrac {  \dfrac{ - 4 \: }{  \: \:  \: 3 \: }  + 2 } { 6 } + \dfrac {  \dfrac{ - 4 \: }{ 3}  - 3 } { 3 } =  \dfrac{ - 4 \: }{3}

\tt\implies \:  \dfrac{  \dfrac{2}{3}  }{ \:  \:  \: 6 \:  \: \:  }  +  \dfrac{  \dfrac{ - 13 \: }{3}  }{ \:  \:  \: 3 \:  \: \:  } =  \dfrac{ - 4 \: }{3}

\tt\implies \: \dfrac { 2 } { 3 } \times \dfrac { 1 } { 6 } + \dfrac { - 13 } { 3 } \times \dfrac { 1 } { 3 } = \dfrac { - 4 } { 3 }

\tt\implies \: \dfrac { 1 } { 9 } + \dfrac { - 13 } { 9 } = \dfrac { - 4 } { 3 }

\tt\implies \: \cancel\dfrac { - 12 } { 9 } = \dfrac { - 4 } { 3 }

\tt\implies \: \dfrac { - 4 } { 3 } = \dfrac { - 4 } { 3 }

  • Hence Proved
