Here is your answer :-

( 998 )^2 = ( 1000 - 2 )^2

= ( 1000 )^2 - 2 ( 1000 )( 2 ) + ( 2 )^2

= 1000000 - 4000 + 4

= 996000 + 4

= 996004 .

78 × 82

= ( 80 - 2 )( 80 + 2 )

= ( 80 )^2 - ( 2 )^2

= 6400 - 4

= 6396
