if a = 2 and b = 3

i. a .+ b

= 2 + 3

= 5

ii. a² + ab

.= 2² + 2 × 3

= 4 + 6

= 10

iii. ab - a²

= 2 × 3 - 2²

= 6 - 4

= 2

iv. 2a - 3b

= 2 × 2 - 3 × 3

= 4 - 9

= -5

v. 5a² - 2b

= 5 × 2² - 2 × 3

= 5 × 4 - 6

= 20 - 6

= 14
