Step by step explanation:-

Given :-

  • x + y = 7
  • x - y = 3

To find :-

  • xy
  • x² + y²

Solution:-

They have given two equations from thia two equations we shall find x, y values

x + y = 7 --------- 1

x - y = 3 ----------- 2

Adding these two equations

x + y + ( x - y) = 7 + 3

x + y + x - y = 10

x + x + y -y = 10

2x = 10

x = 10/2

x = 5

substitute value of x in equation 1

x + y = 7

5 + y = 7

y = 7 -5

y = 2

Now ,

x y = 5 (2)

x y = 10

x² + y² =

(5)² + (2)²

25 + 4

29

x² + y² = 29

Required answers are :-

xy = 10

x² + y² = 29
