➻ Definition :- The process by which Electric Current passed through a substance to affect a chemical change, is called Electrolysis .

➻ Example :- When the current is passed through the molten sodium chloride, sodium and chlorine are deposited at different electrodes .

➻ Uses of Electrolysis :-

• Electrolysis is used in the Extraction of Metals from their Ores .

• They are used for Refining certain Metals such as Copper and Zinc .

• They are also used for the Manufacture of Chlorine .
