1. A computer network is an interconnection of various computers. Two of its advantages include:

  • being able to share resources.
  • being a central storage for data.

2. Based on geographical area, there are mainly four types of networks.

  • Personal Area Network [PAN] - This is the shortest form of network, and is mostly used at homes/between small-range devices.
  • Local Area Network [LAN] - This form of network is comparatively larger than PAN and can range up to a few meters. As an example, it can facilitate an office building/school.
  • Metropolitan Area Network [MAN] - This form of network can cover up a whole city, i.e., up to 100 km at maximum.
  • Wide Area Network [WAN] - This form of network can cover up countries, or even the whole continent.

3. An optical fibre cable can

  • facilitate longer distances.
  • transmit faster signals.
  • easily be ins‎talled/fixed.
  • take up lesser space.

4. Differences between microwave transmissions and radiowave transmissions:

  • Radiowave transmissions can travel anywhere, while microwave transmissions are focused in one direction.
  • Radiowaves aren't as secure when compared to microwave transmissions.

5. A bus topology is a form of network where all the devices are connected to the main cable [also known as the backbone of the network.]
