A 55 kg man holds a weight of 20 kg on his head. What is the work done by him against gravity if he moves a distance of 20 m :

1) on a horizontal road

2) on an incline of 1 in 5 ? (Take g = 10 m/s²)

Answer:

Here M = 55 + 20 = 75Kg

S=20m

(1). work done on a horizontal road.

W=FS cosθ = FS cos900=0

( asθ=900 )

(2). Work done on an incline

given \:  \cosθ =  \frac{1}{5}

W=FS cosθ=( mgsinθ )s cos00

 = 75 \times 10 \times  \frac{1}{5}  \times 20 \times 1

W= 3000J
