Of the 48 balls, green are (1/4)*48 = 12, blue are (1/8)*48 = 6, yellow are (1/12)*48 = 4 and the rest, white are 26. Answer: 6 balls are blue.

First let us find the fraction of green, blue and yellow balls :-

\frac{1}{4}+\frac{1}{8}+\frac{1}{12}=\frac{6}{24}

\frac{6}{24} +\frac{3}{24}+\frac{3}{24},common denominators = \frac{11}{24}, add numerators

The fraction of the white balls is given by :-

\frac{24}{24} - \frac{11}{24} = \frac{13}{24}

So, he fraction \frac{13}{24} corresponds to 26 balls If x is thee total number of balls then :-

(\frac{13}{24}) of x = 26 balls

x = 26 × (\frac{24}{13}) = 48, total number of balls
