India is a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic and republic country as the Constitution of India accepted by the Government of India on January 26, 1951. Explained below are the main definitions of these describing words:

✳ Sovereign

According to the Constitution of India, India is a ruled by an independent legislature, executive and judiciary. No other external power can rule these bodies.

✳ Socialist

The country allows the existence and development of all kind of private as well as public industries contributing towards a mixed economy.

✳ Secular

The nation tolerates all religions and do not have a national religion. Equal support and toleration will be provided to all religions in the nation.

✳ Democratic

The nation will be democratic, that is, it will be ruled for the people, by the people and to the people. Independent elections and selections of rulers will take place according to the wishes of the citizens.

✳ Republic

It means that the nation will have an elected head who will serve the nation for a specific time period until a change of rulers in the periodic elections.
