According to Pythagoras theorem .

We have  Hypotenuse^2\: =\: 1st \:Side^2 \:+ 2nd\: Side^2.

So applying the theorem we get AC^2\:=AB^2\:+\:BC^2 .

Filling the values  13^2\:=\: AB^2\:+\:5^2 .

We get 169 = AB^2 + 25 .

Changing the side we get 169 - 25 = AB square .

Result => 144 = AB square

Solution is therefore 12 cm = AB

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello ! guys here's Ur ans...

Given:

ABC is a right triangle.

<B = 90°

AC = 13 cm.

BC = 5cm.

Find: AB

Solution:

We know that by Pythagoras theorem;

AC ² = AB² + BC²

= 13² = AB² + 5²

= AB² = 13² - 5²

= AB ² = (13+5)(13-5)

= AB = 18×8= 144

= AB = 12cm(ans)..

Hence, value of AB = 12 cm..
