Given,

P1=1

P2=?

V1=500 dm^3

V2=200dm^3

Apply Boyle's law P1V1 = P2V2 to calculate P2 as temp remains constant.

P2= P1V1'/V2

=1 bar × 500 dm^3 / 200 dm^3

= 2.5 bar

Explanation:

Given

P1 = 1 bar

V1 = 500 DM^3

P2 = ?

V2 = 200 Dm^3

P1V1 = P2V2

500 × 1 = P2 200

5/2 = P2

P2 = 2.5 bar

2.5 bar pressure is required to compress air.
