Let the larger no. be x and the smaller one be x-7

Then,

6(x-7) +x = 77 ...(given)

⇒6x - 42 +x = 77

⇒7x- 42 = 77

i.e x= 17

Now putting the value of x in given equation, we get

i.e x-7=y

⇒y = 17-7

⇒y = 10
