Solution:

As perimeter of Rectangle is

=2(Length+Breadth)

In the given figure

Length=(x+5)cm

Breadth:(x+3) cm

Perimeter= 2[(x+3)+(x+5)]

Solve and simplify

Equation of

Perimeter= 2(2x+8) cm...eq1

As given perimeter is 32 cm...eq2

Equate eq1 and eq2

2(2x + 8) = 32 \\  \\ 2x + 8 =  \frac{32}{2}  \\  \\ 2x +8  = 16 \\  \\ 2x = 16 - 8 \\  \\ 2x = 8 \\  \\ x =  \frac{8}{2}  \\  \\x =  4 \\  \\

Thus,

Value of x is 4.

Length of Rectangle= (x+5)=4+6=9 cm

Breadth of Rectangle=(x+3)=4+3=7 cm

Verification:

Perimeter=2(Length+Breadth)

=2(9+7)

=2×16

=32 cm
