Srinivasa Ramanujan was born in erode a small village in south India on 22nd December 1887. He was the eldest child of his family. His mother gave birth to many more children but they could not survive due to the epidemic spread at that time. As a young talented boy he scored good marks in every subject and even the highest mark in his district. But this limited till he did not grab up mathematics. After mathematics had come to his life he started giving less importance in other subjects as a result his percentage has deteriorated. He spent the whole day calculating. He had become a fat boy by now who if falls on another child would smash him up. At the age of fifteen he finished most of the topics of higher mathematics. He got the book 'A Synopsis of Theoretical Mathematics ' which was given to him by his friends.

When he had grew up to young man he had to struggle for employment. After a number of trial he got a job in a British office as a clerk. Another Indian who used to work there was impressed by his mathematical intelligence and asked him to consult with popular mathematicians so that they could help him. He sent a small piece of his research to three mathematcians but two of them denied him but G. H Hardy was too impressed and called him to trinity college in Britain. Ramanujan had struggled a lot there due to food crisis due World War 1. His lungs was effected and he suffered from respiratory infections. There he got the membership of Royal Society. After returning from Britain he suffered one year with harsh diseases and then passed away. He will be always remembered by us one of the greatest Indian greatest mathematician.

We also celebrate his birthday as National Mathematics Day.

HE WAS THE

MAN WHO KNEW INFINITY.
