Let original price of the article be Rs. 100.

GST = 12%

Price after GST is included = Rs. 100 + Rs. 12 = Rs. 112

When the selling price is Rs. 112 then original price = Rs. 100

When the selling price is Rs. 784, then original price :-

Let, the price of the article before GST was added be x

Now,

x + 12% 0f x = ₹ 784

⇒ x + 12/100 × x = ₹ 784

⇒ x + 0.12x = ₹ 784

⇒ 1.12x = ₹ 784

⇒ x = ₹ 784/1.12

⇒ x = ₹ 78400/112

⇒ x = ₹ 700

Therefore, price of the article before GST was added is ₹ 700
