Here , the prisoner shouldn't say truth or lie as his answer.

The answer should be a probable one.

The prisoner can say that he will be hanged after sometime (or) he will be released after sometime.

This answer isn't truth or lie because we can't predict about what's going to happen in the future.

So..by saying a probable answer , he can save himself.

in order to save himself prisoner shouldn't say anything bcoz that would neither be truth nor lies therefore prisoner will be neither hanged nor shooted
