The family of the alcoholic are deprived of the basic freedom of thought . It may sound awkward but yes it is true. They cannot think very freely because their mind is tossing and is worried about the alcoholic person and how to bring him back to his original good health . They suffer from depression sometimes undervaluing themselves and hence the alcoholic person not only does harm to himself but also the surrounding loving ones who care for them .

What will be the future of such families in which the main earner of the family is an alcoholic and there is no other male support except a daughter?

The future of the family depends on the actions ( KARMA ) . If the family does good deed and each and every member does good deed , they will all be blessed . However let me give you a rather logical answer ( not philosophical ) . The future should be well planned and worked out by the mother and the girl or daughter . Daughter / son does not matter , it is the hardwork and talent that really matters . However , an alcoholic person does not mean that he cannot earn money . This idea is wrong . There are several alcoholic people who still earn money and fairly good amount of money .

Why in spite of development, alcohol is becoming the root cause of destruction of innocent lives?  

Greed , hunger , lust for money is the cause . No one can ban alcohol because this would lead to a loss in business of all those greedy , hungry men who fail to understand that " money is not everything in life but happiness is ". The government will never ban it because it gets fair handsome amount of tax from it collected from the alcohol industry and other sources.
