According to the question,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀x + y = 640 ---------(i)

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀and

⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ x = y + 100

⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⟹ x - y = 100 --------(ii)

⠀⠀ Adding eqn (i) and (ii),

⠀⠀ x + y + x - y = 640+100

⠀⠀ ⟹ 2x = 740

⠀⠀ ⟹ x = 370 Ans.

Putting the value of x in eqn (i),

⠀⠀ ⟹ 370 + y = 640
