2x+7=(x+2)^2

2x+7=(x)^2+(2)^2+2\times2\timesxx

2x+7=x^2+4+4x

0=x^2+4-7+4x-2x

x^2+2x-3=0

x^2+3x-x-3=0

x(x+3)-1(x+3)=0

(x+3)(x-1)=0

x=-3

 or

 x=1
