I think it should be

 {(  \sqrt{5} +  \sqrt{7} )  }^{2}  \\  =  { \sqrt{5} }^{2}  + 2 \sqrt{5}  \sqrt{7}  +  { \sqrt{7} }^{2}  \\  = 5 + 2 \sqrt{35}  + 7 \\  = 12 + 2 \sqrt{35}
