Hello dear, thank u for asking this wonderful Question...

Ans:- There are two reasons for which Crystals are rare.

i) Erosion

ii) Mixed composition

Erosion which is caused due to the activity of wind, rain and water is responsible for the breaking of rocks and Crystals. The erosion breaks down big crystals into small particles. This small particles then form sand, silt and clay. The earth is covered with sand, silt, and clay as opposed to being covered with giant gem-quality crystals partly because of erosion. Also sometimes when the rock forms inside the earth's surface,a mixed composition means that crystals of one material get in the way of the crystals of another material while they are forming.Due to this reasons the crystals become very small and rare.

Hope you are satisfied and it helps you....

The answer is twofold: erosion and mixed composition. Wind, rain, and water flow have a way of knocking and mixing around things here on earth.
