THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY
☞Thermal conductivity is defined as the measure of a material’s ability to conduct heat. It is denoted by K
➳Formula of thermal conductivity
K = QL/A(ΔT)t
◈SI unit of thermal conductivity
K = W/mK or J/smK
◈CGS unit of thermal conductivity
K = erg/scmK
EXTRA POINTS:
- The inverse of thermal conductivity is thermal resistivity.
- Order of thermal conductivity Ag > Cu > Au > Al
- For Ag thermal conductivity = 410 W/mK (Maximum value)
- For an ideal or perfect insulator k = 0
- Dimensional formula Here Θ is temperature in kelvin.
