A xerophyte is a species of plant which has adapted to survive in an environment with very less water such as desert. They have a number of adaptations to reduce transpiration for water conservation, for example, the stem is covered by thick cuticle and has high succulency while leaves are modified into spines to reduce the loss of water by transpiration.
