Solution :

= x - 1 - (x - 1) {2} + ax - a

Using commutative property here,

= x - 1 - 2 (x-1) + ax - a

= x - 1 - 2 (x-1) + a × (x-1)

= (x-1) × (1+a) - 2(x-1)

= (x-1) × (1+a-2)

→ (x-1) × (-1+a)
