 {x}^{2}  + 5x - 24 = 0 \\  {x}^{2}  + 8x - 3x  - 24 = 0 \\ x( x + 8) - 3(x + 8) = 0 \\ (x + 8)(x - 3) = 0 \\ x = 3 \:  \:  \: and \:  \:  \: x =  - 8 \:  \:   \\ so \\  \\ k = 8 \:  \: ans \:

Given :   x² + 5x - 24  = 0  k is a solution of the equation and k is negative

To find : | k |

Solution:

x² + 5x - 24  = 0

k is a solution of the equation   and k is negative

First find solution of Equation  x² + 5x - 24  = 0

x²  + 8x - 3x - 24 = 0

=> x(x + 8) - 3(x + 8) = 0

=> (x - 3)(x + 8) = 0

= x = 3  , x = -8

only negative solution is - 8

=> k = - 8

| k |  = | - 8 |   = 8

| k |  = 8
