Question :

Find the roots of quadratic equation x² + x - 30 by middle term splitting.

ANSWER :

GIVEN :

A quadratic equation x² + x - 30 = 0.

TO FIND :

Roots by middle term splitting = ?

SOLUTION :

⇒ x² + x - 30 = 0

• We should write this as –

⇒ x² + 6x - 5x - 30 = 0

⇒ x(x + 6) - 5(x + 6) = 0

⇒ (x - 5)(x + 6) = 0

⇒ x - 5 =0 & x + 6 = 0

⇒ x = 5 & x = -6

⇒ x = 5 , -6

Hence , The roots are 5 & -6.
