Given:-

\sf{y}+ \sf\dfrac{3}{2} = 5

To find :-

Value of y

Solution:-

\sf{y}+ \sf\dfrac{3}{2} = 5

Take LCM in LHS

\sf\dfrac{2y+3}{2}=5

Do cross multiplication

2y + 3 = 2 (5)

2y + 3 = 10

Transpose 3 to RHS

2y = 10-3

2y = 7

y = \sf\dfrac{7}{2}

Verification:-

Substuite value of y to get LHS=RHS

\sf{y}+ \sf\dfrac{3}{2} = 5

\sf\dfrac{7}{2} + \sf\dfrac{3}{2} = 5

\sf\dfrac{7+3}{2}=5

\sf\dfrac{10}{2}=5

5 = 5

LHS = RHS

verified

So, the value of x is \sf\dfrac{7}{2}
