Answer: Connective tissues are animal tissues which binds and support body parts and transport materials. The matrix of connective tissue maybe jelly like fluid, dense or rigid. Their cells are loosely packed. They are subdivided into-

i)Blood- It has a fluid matrix called plasma, in which RBCs, WBCs and platelets are suspended. Plasma contains proteins, salts and hormones. Blood flows and transport gases, digested food, hormones and waster materials to different parts of the body.

ii)Bone- It forms the framework that supports the body. It is a strong and inflexible tissue. Bone cells are embedded in a hard matrix that is composed of calcium and phosphorus.

iii)Ligament- Two bones are connected to each other by ligament. It is very elastic and it also has great strength. It has very little matrix.

iv)Tendon- They connect muscles to bones. They are fibrous tissues with great strength but limited flexibility.

v)Cartilage- It has widely spaced cells. It has solid matrix which is composed of protein and sugar. It smoothens bone surfaces at joints and are present in ears, nose, trachea and larynx.

vi)Aerolar connective tissue- They are found between the skin and muscles around blood vessels and nerves and in the bone marrow. It fills the spaces inside of organs, supports internal organs and helps in repair of tissues.

vii)Adipose- They store fats and is found below the skin, between internal organs and support the internal organs. Its cells are filled with fat globules. Storage of fat also let it work as an insulator.

Hope it helps:)
