Given question :

3x + y = 0.5x - 7

3x - 0.5x = - 7 - y

2.5x = - 7 - y

y = 7 - 2.5x

Substitute this value ,

3x + 7 - 2.5x = 0.5x - 7

0.5x - 0.5x = 7 - 7

x = 0

y = 7
