2y² = 250 - 88

2y² = 162

y² = 162/2

y² = 81

y = √81

y = 9

Now putting the value of y in (1)

x² + y² = 250

x² + (9)² = 250

x² = 250 - 81

x² = 169

x = √169

x = 13

The two numbers are 13 and 9.
