Answer: x=47

              y=13

Step-by-step explanation: let one no be x and the other y

x+y=60        (1)

x = 8+3y      (2)

substituting (2) in (1)

8+3y+y= 60

8+4y = 60

4y=52

y=13

substituting  y=13 in (2)

x=8+3×13

x=39+8

x=47

                       hope this is good enough!!!!!!

Answer:

1st number = 13

2nd number = 47

Step-by-step explanation:

sum = 60

1st number = x

2nd number = 3x + 8

x + 3x + 8 = 60

4x + 8 = 60

4x = 60 - 8

4x = 52

x = 52 ÷ 4

x = 13

∴ 1st number = x = 13

   2nd number = 3x + 8 = 3 × 13 + 8

                          = 47

to check :-

(LHS) x + 3x + 8 = 60 (RHS)

(LHS)     13 + 47 = 60

(LHS)      60       = 60

(LHS)      LHS     = RHS
