Thallophyta are very lower and simple plants that lack a proper body that can be differentiated into the root and the shoot system. Their body is thallus like, hence named Thallophyta and more often it is unicellular. As a result, thallophytes lacks roots or rhizoids and also they do not have any "vascular system". As a result, they absorb water from their surroundings by the process of diffusion and osmosis, through their cell wall. This is why, Thallophytes are usually found in wet places.
