Thanjavur, previously called Tanjore is a city in Tamil Nadu and is famous for paddy( unmilled rice).Hence, it is also known as the Rice bowl of Tamil Nadu. It is so because 58% land is fit for cultivation and paddy/rice is the crop that is grown in abundance here and is the main source of rice.Other crops grown here are sugarcane, maize, green gram, etc.

Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu is famous for rice or paddy. It is in fact knownn as the Rice Bowl Of India. The reason behind this is that the district is made up of cretacious tertiary and alluvial deposits.

The farmers of the locality are more receptive an responsive towards the newer and better technologies. This land has 58% fertility which is an advantage.
