for example: Question:which is greater? 4/8 or 2/6?

so in here we can see that the denominators are diff. so we will find there lcm. lcm of 6 and 8 is 24.

now..we will multiply the denominators with such a no that will give us 24. and the number with thier numerator. for ex=4/8, 8 will be multiplied with 3 to get 24. and we will multiply its numerator, 4, with 3 also. and finally we will get 12/24. we will do tbe same with 2/6. 6 multiplied by 4 gives us 24, so we will multiply 2 with 4 too. finally we get 8/24

now which is greater..12/24 or 8/24

(also note that if the denominators are same then you just have to compare the numerators)
