Step-by-step explanation:

Length of the road = 2.5 km = 2500 m ( 2.5 × 1000 )

Work done on day 1 = 1/4 of the total work

                                  = 1/4 × 2500

                                  = 625 m

Work done on day 2 = 1375 m (given)

Work done on day 3 = 625 + 1375 = 2000

                                   = 2500 - 2000

                                   = 500 m

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(a) Length of the road completed till day 2 = day 1 + day 2

                                                                       = 625 m + 1375 m

                                                                       = 2000m

                                                                       = 2 km (2000 ÷ 1000)

(b) Maximum work was completed on day 2  ( day 3 < day 1 < day 2 )

                                                                             ( 500 m < 625 m < 1375 m )
