The turning point of their friendship was when the author and their family shifted to the city.

When they shifted to the city the contribution of the grandmother in the nurturing of the author declined drastically as the grandmother no longer comes to drop the author to the school, she could no longer help the author in his academics as everything was in English and perhaps the interactions between both had certainly decreased.
