17th of an AP = a + 16d

10th term of an AP = a + 9d

where a is first term and d is common difference

according to the question ,

a + 17d = a + 9d + 7

=> 17d = 9d + 7

=> 8d = 7

=> d = 7/8

Answer:

common difference is 1

Step-by-step explanation:

first of all the 17th term can be written as a+16d where a is the first term and d is the common difference and 10th term can be written as a+9d

so as per the given information we have

a+16d to be a+9d+7

so as an equation

a+16d=a+9d+7  as we see a gets cancelled and equation becomes

 7d=7 giving us

d=1

so the common difference is 1
