Niacin is also called as Vitamin B3. Its deficiency causes a disease called as Pellagra. It is characterised by a rough skin.

Pellagra first shows its symptoms in the areas of skin that are exposed to sunlight like the face, etc. Gradually the skin becomes dark and hardens and gets peeled off leading to bleeding.

There are 3 D's of Niacin deficiency. They are - Dermatitis, Diarrhea, and Dementia. Sometimes, a 4th D is also added that stands for - Death.

 It's symptoms include:

In the first stage of disease, skin is affected by sunlight.

Primary niacin occurs due to less intake of niacin in person's diet. In secondary stage, a person takes niacin in diet but the body becomes disable to use it for proper body functioning.
