i.e a+4d =21

the 10th term is 46

i.e a+9d=46__________( 2 )

solving equations ( 1 ) and ( 2 )

a+9d+46=a+4d+21

=a-a+9d-4d+46-21

= 5d=25

dividing both side 5

= d=5

substituting the value of d in ( 1 ) we get

a+4d=21

a+4×5=21

a+20=21

a = 21 -20

a=1
