The 6th term of an AP is 13 and 10th term is 21. find the series

We know that ,

n th term of an AP = a + (n-1)d  

so, 6 th term = a + (6-1)d

ie , 13 = a + 5d ..................................(1)

also,  10 th term = a + (10-1)d

ie,  21 = a + 9d ...................................(2)

subtracting (1) from (2)  ,  we get  ,

8 = 4d

ie , d = 2 .............................................(3)

substituting (3) in (1)  , we get  ,

13 = a + 5 × 2

ie, a = 13 - 10  =  3

so we got a = 3 and d = 2

hence the required series is  3,5,7,9,11 .....
