Tn = a + (n-1)d,

=> 42 = a + (6-1)d,

=> a+5d = 42, ------> eqn 1,

and similarly,

28 = a + (4-1)d,

=> a+3d = 28, ------> eqn 2,

by solving eqn 1 and eqn 2,

we get,

a = first term = 7,

d = common difference = 7.
