first term of the AP is 1040/9 and common difference is -64/9

let a is the first term and d is common difference of the AP.

6th term of an AP is 80

so, a + (6 - 1)d = a + 5d = 80......(1)

and its 15th term is 16.

so, a + (15 - 1)d = a + 14d = 16 .......(2)

from equations (1) and (2) we get,

a + 14d - a - 5d = 16 - 80 = - 64

⇒9d = -64

⇒d = -64/9

so, a = 80 - 5d = 80 - 5(-64/9) = 80 + 320/9

= 1040/9
