Given : The A.M. of 200 values is 50.

But the values 192 and 88 are wrongly taken as 92 and 8.

To  find  :  the correct A.M.

Solution:

Short cut method :

The A.M. of 200 values is 50.

values 192 and 88 are wrongly taken as 92 and 8.

Hence correction in sum =  (192 +  88 - 92 - 8 )

= 180

Correction in mean = 180/200  =  0.9

Corrected Mean = 50 + 0.9  = 50.9

Other method :

Total sum of 200 Values = 200 * 50 = 10000

Corrected sum = 10000 + (192 +  88 - 92 - 8 )

= 10180

Corrected Mean = 10180/200

= 50.9
