The above graph is a velocity and time graph of one object. Observe the graph care fully and answer the following questions.
1. Which type of motion is exhibited by the object?
2. Calculate the acceleration of the object.
3. Find out the initial and final velocity of the object.
4. What is represented by slope of velocity-time graph?

Given:

Velocity time graph

To find:

Type of motion, acceleration , initial(u) and final(v) velocity , slope

Solution:

  1. The graph represents a uniformly retarded motion - The velocity is decreasing uniformly over time.

      2. Acceleration is given by:

       a = v-u /t

          = 30-0/10  = 3 m/s^2

     3. Initial velocity = u = 0

         Final velocity =v = 30m/s

     4. Slope of velocity graph gives the acceleration of the moving body and is given by:

            a = \frac{\Delta v}{\Delta t}
