abscissa of the point is the distance from the Y - axis

a shortcut to find the abscissa is x axis value is the abscissa of the point.

so if the x axis is positive or negative abscissa is always positive.

ex: (-4,3) abscissa = +4 units

     (5,9)  abscissa = 5 units.
