Refracive \: Index \: of \: glass \: w.r.t. \: water \\  =  \frac{ \frac{3}{2} }{ \frac{4}{3} }  =  \frac{9}{8}

Note: Refractive index have not any unit. It is an unitless quantity.

Answer:

refractive index N= C/V     [C=speed of light in vaccuam

                                             v=speed of light in given medium]

relative refractive index = speed of light in medium1 ÷ speed of light in m2

absolute refractive index of water=4/3

that is V(vaccuam)/V(water)   = 4/3

absolute refractive index of glass = 3/2

therefore V(vaccuam)/V(glass) = 3/2

Therefore the refractive index of glass

with respect to water = V(water)/V(glass)

={V(water)/V(vac.)} / [V(glass)/V(vac.)} = (3/4) /(2 /3) = 9/8 =1.125
