The absolute retractlve indices of glass and water are 4/3 and 3/2 respectively. If the speed of light in glass is 2 X 10^8 m/s, calculate the speed of light in

(i) vacuum
(ii) water

absolute refractive index of glass =v/g
4/3=v/2*10^8
v=4*2*10^8/3
v=2.67*10^8m/s
now
refractive index of water=v/w
3/2=2.67*10^8/w
w=2.67*2*10^8/3
w=1.78*10^8m/s
where
v=speed of light in vacuum
g=speed of light in glass
w=speed of light in water.
