Given that,

Absorption transition = 4

Transition ground state to nth state

Suppose, if transition ground state to fifth state

We need to calculate the emission transition lines between ground state to 5th state

Using formula of emission transition lines

N_{E}=\dfrac{n(n-1)}{2}

Where, n = quantum number

Put the value into the formula

N_{E}=\dfrac{5^2-5}{2}

N_{E}=10

The emission transition lines between ground state to 5th state is 10.

So, The emission transition lines between ground state to nth state will be

N_{E}=\dfrac{n(n-1)}{2}

Hence, The emission transition lines between these energy states is \dfrac{n(n-1)}{2}
