The act amended by the Maharashtra government to curb or control the cyber crime in India is The Information Technology Act, 2000 also called IT act 2000.

This act is meant to provide ‘legal recognition’ for transactions that are carried out by ‘electronic data interchange’ and electronic communication, commonly called “electronic commerce”.
